Prizes: Winner of Ross County Idol will receive $1000.00 cash and recording time with Paul Pollard Productions. Winner of Junior Idol will receive a $500.00 savings bond.
Eligibility: You must be 10 - 15 years of age to participate in the Ross County Junior Idol competition and 16 years of age or older to participate in the Ross County Idol competition. These ages must be true as of May 17, 2008.
Competitor must be a Ross County Resident. One valid form of photo ID is required. This must show date of birth. If you are a minor and do not have a picture ID, a birth certificate must be shown at time of preliminary auditions or a copy of it sent with application if you chose to apply prior to auditions. IF the contestant is under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must complete the minor permission form by the day of preliminary auditions. NO EXCEPTIONS. Contestant is ineligible if he/she already has any type of talent representation recording contract. All sections/requirements of the Official Rules and Regulations must also be met in order to be eligible.
Performance Material: All participants will be required to sing one song of their choice, WITHOUT any background music (a cappella) for the preliminary auditions. If you are chosen to move on to the actual competition, the participant must be prepared to perform a different song of his/her choice. You may have background music during all three nights of the competition. Audio for each song must be provided o a separate audio CD and is the responsibility of the contestant (one track per CD) It is recommended to have this CD in a case or sleeve for protection. The background audio CD provided for each night must not contain any back-up vocals. If you still choose to have back-up vocals, please be aware that the judges will have the choice to deduct points from your score. Please make sure the CD is labeled properly with the name of the contestant, original artist’s name and track title. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED--BRING A BACK-UP COPY OF EACH CD!!!
Applications and fees: In Order to complete the application process, the following items must be properly completed and received before the audition:
- Audition application (all participants must complete)
- Minor permission form (anyone under the age of 18 must have parent or legal guardian complete)
- Copy of photo id (all participants must provide a copy of a photo id that verifies age.) If photo id does not have this information another form of id will be required.
- Application fee: (non-refundable): $10.00 per competitor IF the
application is received by Wednesday May 14, 2008. Otherwise,
there will be a $15.00 fee for those who choose to wait and register
on the day of auditions. (May 17th) Please make checks payable to
the Feast of the Flowering Moon.
The Process:
1). Application process and requirements must be met before the audition on Saturday, May 17th, 2008. Advance registration through the mail is recommended to save $5.00 on the application fee and to ensure all requirements are met before the audition. If you do not pre-register, you can still do so before your audition. Again, the fee will increase to $15.00.
2). Auditions on Saturday, May 17, 2008: Depending on the number of contestants, some will advance to the Ross County Idol 2008 competition,
however others will not.
3). The Idol competition will be held on May 23, 24, 25th at the main stage at the Feast of the Flowering Moon. Each night of the competition, a number of performers will advance to the next night and the others will be eliminated.
4). On Sunday, May 25th the final competition will take place. The winners of the Junior Idol 2008 and Ross County Idol of 2008 will be selected from the finalists.
Judging:
* There will be a panel of 3-4 judges. The panel will judge all auditions and performances. (We reserve the right to have other types of judging)
* All decisions by the judges will be final!!!
* Scores sheets are the property of the Feast of the Flowering Moon and
WILL NOT be available to the public or contestants.
*Contestants will be judged on vocal clarity, intonation, musical passion, and
stage presence.
Disqualifications: We reserve the right to disqualify and/or exclude any individual from the competition if any rules and regulations are not met. We also reserve the right to change the rules and procedures at any time if circumstances required to do so. Participants will also be disqualified if any incorrect information is provided during the application process.
General Conditions: By participating, contestants agree to the terms and conditions of the contest and understand that all judging is final and binding.
We reserve the right to use your name, pictures, audio or video recordings for publicity and other purposes without compensation. All federal, state, and local laws apply. All participants and legal guardians agree to not pursue any legal claims against the Feast of the Flowering Moon, Ross County Idol, event sponsors, organizers and/or anyone associated with this event.
NO WEAPONS, ALCOHOL, OR ANY OTHER ILLEGAL CONTRABAND IS PERMITTED!!!

Days of the competition:
- Each evening arrive 1 hour before competition.
